Add up to two optional wireless handsets to take your radio anywhere on board.AIS information can be viewed on the V60’s built-in screen, or overlaid on your chart or radar screen through a compatible multifunction display.A dual-channel AIS receiver monitors the position of nearby AIS-equipped vessels, helping you to avoid collisions in crowded harbours and waterways.NMEA 2000 means you don’t need another antenna if you already have one in your network.NMEA 0183 allows you to get GPS from a chartplotter. An SMA connector on the rear case allows for connection to a GPS-500 antenna.A GPS antenna in the face of the radio means open air installations don’t need another antenna at all. With the integrated GPS receiver the V60 now has four ways to ensure you have a GPS fix in the event of an emergency.Optional wireless handsets with inductive charging.Large screen with intuitive user interface.Seamless integration with a wider B & G system through NMEA 20.Low profile design to align with style of B & G MFD’s.Front mountable design for easy installation.B & G V60 Replaces the current V50 mid level VHF, updated to comply with EN 301 025 (v2.2.1).

#V50 vhf radio nmea 2000 network manual
I downloaded the chartplotter manual and VHF manual from the manufacturer’s websites.

I read the manuals and did a quick internet search and found that it’s easy to connect my radio and chartplotter together using two wires so the chartplotter can feed the radio time and position data.

All you have to do is figure out how to set up and connect the equipment and it should work. There’s a protocol called NMEA that allows maritime electronics to communicate. So, a little about making the right connections. It’s also nice that our position will be displayed on the radio so it’s easy to tell buddy boats where we are, or for a less emergent situation like a Securite or Pan Pan call. I want our location to be inputted in to VHF radio so if I need to press the distress button an automatic call can go out to the Coast Guard and our position will be automatically transmitted. I noticed the radio said “No Position No Time” and it was right next to the chartplotter that gets its position and time from its GPS antenna. It all started when I turned on the Furuno RDP-149 NavNet VX2 chartplotter and Icom 504 VHF radio for the first time.
